the past year of James being THREE
//
pretend play... all day
a favourite game is being an egg that's going to hatch & being an animal of his choosing -
to which I'm instructed to say: I"m going to keep this (insert animal),"
& then feed it jellybeans
wrestling with dad
still calls me "mumma"
giving me "shiny" rocks
the instigator / destroyer / our wild card
recently every morning after breakfast: "can you tuck me in the couch?"
running outside in winter if the door is open in his bare feet & no jacket.
started colouring - a feat, though it's involved many, many markers on the floor
usually up to something.. throwing something in the bath water, sneaking something off the kitchen counter, or occasionally just quietly reading a book on the couch
enjoys calling Auntie Des & seeing Gus, the dog
loves trains, monster trucks, Bowser, bugs
the Batman song, Moana soundtrack
favourite number: googleplex & 5
special friends: Ashley & Charles
little buddy: Davie
Jamesy's third birthday
(Edie helped me make the birthday poster)
we went to Monkey Bars to play, had DQ for lunch
& chocolate marshmallow pie for birthday cake.
vigorously at the supper table:
"Come Lord Jesus be our guest & may this food to us be blessed, Amen! Amen! Amen!"
making Edie's birthday card... "I'll write it, I'm an expert writer. Dear Edie, I will give you presents & balloons for your birthday. I will bless you Edie. Love James"
"once upon a time there was a garbage truck & he got a big scoop of garbage & dumped it out.
& that's the end of garbage trucks"
unprompted repentance... "sorry, mom, for picking your flowers last year"
after a big crash down the hill on his bike: "I shouldn't do that again!"
praying: "Come Lord Jesus, thank you for trains, for finding ladybugs... diggers & maple bugs."
James & Ashley next door (they are quite the pair!)
fast friends with cousin Sophie
playing with Charles
interrupting a conversation: "Mom, mom, mom, did you know - flies... have... butts?!"
of his enormous poop... "I wish I could be that super long"
of him & David: Look, we're matching
mom: Oh yeah, your pants
James: & our shoes. & our eyeballs
"I cannot bweeve!" (when the play gets too rough, or not to his liking)
to me: "now you just ruined my day & I was going to buy you flowers"
(can't remember what prompted that one...)
"I wish I could be a real cat, Mumma. I would meow & be a nice cat."
getting him dressed to go out in the snow:
"I'm going to defeat my enemy!"
"You're a loot (whoever he's talking to)"
(which he had to change from toot)
special date with dad for batteries for his trains
"I'm the Best James Ever!"
you're quite the guy, Jamesy...
we're gonna have so much fun when you're four.
xx
