Our day to day around here since Covid19 restrictions began.
It’s gone smoother having all the kids home than I would’ve expected...
Of course we’ve had a few bumps along the way but on the whole things have fallen nicely into a new rhythm. Joel made an office for himself downstairs in one of the spare rooms & it helps having him close by, though of course he's still 'at work.'
For our family we're entering week 6 of Staying at Home.
On the whole I would say it's had a positive impact on us & strengthened our family bond. Of course the kids still natter each other etc, but they also play really well together & have come up with new games & are excited to get back to whatever they were working on last.
I don't mind staying home... of course it'll be nice when things can go back to normal, but I definitely identify as an introvert & am fine with not having to get out the door & do all the things.
We keep a pretty simple routine ~ our days are a mix of reading (right now we're enjoying some Ramona books), scholastic lessons, art hub, lego, colouring, walks & playing on the trampoline, some minimal math & whatever random games the kids come up with...
We've also been working through some Disney Nature films which are fun as well as beautiful ~ they've enjoyed them more than I would've guessed. So far we've watched Bears, Elephant, Chimpanzee & Born in China.
Playing "monster." You can guess who the Monster is.
Edie's journal work on Bones.
Asher & Edie doing their own 'art hub' together using the book as a guide. Here's a couple of their drawings... Ninjago has been a huge inspiration around here these days. (Ninja lego).
Edie's art.
Another game Asher & Edie have been doing together is using her camera (that they recently discovered still works) to make 'podcasts' together (ie silly videos of themselves).
Once Joel's done work for the day he usually plays with the kids downstairs while I get supper ready. It usually involves some loud music & a lot of running &/or wrestling. Race Chase & Snapdragon have been popular in the past, the game of late is 'Spank the Royal Butt.'

Compared to the world at large I've only minimally felt the effects of Covid 19;
I recognize not everyone has had as smooth or positive a transition.
We are especially grateful that Joel is still able to work during this time.
Do I dare ask how do you play "spank the royal butt"? Is this game suitable for gramma & papa?
