Moving

We're here! We made it! We are residents of Nipawin, Saskatchewan.
Today marks one week since moving day.
We've pretty well settled in here and have had an excellent first week:

- joined our first neighbourhood wiener roast next door
- have been picking raspberries in the 'community' garden (ie. while the neighbours are away)
- went out to Greenwater Lake with Phil & Jess
- made some killer roll cookies here again with the Houston's

Besides that are exploring the town and meandering around campus & surviving the mosquitoes, of which there are many :(
I admittedly already feel more a part of the community here than any of other moves?! (Living on campus definitely contributes to that, there are several families here). Also we are loving our new house - I was almost moved to tears when we walked in the first time; they fixed it up so nice for us and the space is ample!

Here's a few pictures from our packing day in Calgary - Joel rounded up some buddies along with Andrew, Jim, and Joel Bestward and they had our house packed in the truck in no time!

Post loading - ice cream treats :)

We'll miss our family here in Calgary - and Asher's cousins Violet & June.

Ready to move!

One last walk around the neighbourhood.

After spending the night in Melfort it's time to unload in the new place!
Grandma and Asher checking it out...

Here we are :)

Down time with Grandma.

Asher is sure to miss running upstairs to Grandma & Grandpa's for a visit!

Here's a few from the first couple days.

Trying out the sandbox!

Sandal tan.

Visitors! It's a huge blessing to have family not too far away!

Henry making himself at home.

Someone's been picking berries...

Love my boys :) & it's nice to have Joel working so close by!
Asher has finally figured out that Daddy is way more fun to play with than Mum and now goes to him for playtime! They've got lot's of space to wrestle etc.

Can't thank everyone enough for all their help during moving! Andrew and Jim for their labour and packing skills, Rocky & Joyelle for coming out to see us one more time and helping with cleaning and loading, Carolyn for childcare and taking time off work to come out and help, again to Jim & Carolyn for driving out our truck! Jess for hosting us and so thoughtfully bringing out a delicious supper our first night here, and the residents here for helping us unload and making us feel so welcome! (Fresh bread and muffins, anyone?)

We would so appreciate your prayers as we adjust and the school year kicks in - Joel's officially in the office prepping for classes, and I'm feeling like baby #2 will be here in no time at all!

We're excited to make this home.

  2. the pictures tell a great story. so happy for you and such a wonderful start to your life in Nipawin! and the fact that you almost shed a tear says a lot for you, my dear. dad and I can't wait to visit! we too are very thankful for all the help you received moving from family and friends. and the added blessing of family not too far away, warms my heart too.
ps. you probably need to buy a big can of mosquito spray and use liberally.
