blogs are a bit lacking without photos - hence the first one. photography is what prompts me to start some posts.. (heart & lungs of the apple my husband broke with his bare hands) :

having renewed interest in photography, i started by taking a beginner film class at focal point here in van, by the encouragement of my husband & his gift of a manual camera - a minoltaXD11. just last week i finished the class with a bit more knowledge & experience in hand, appreciating film & realizing as well the advantages a digital camera would have. lucky girl that i am, my husband unbeknownst to me went & got a nikonD5000 & surprised me with it last week. joel is thee best giver of gifts, but here he has outdone himself & he is only too excited with this one. just today we chose a 50mm lens (f1.8) for a bit more depth & shallower focus. it's especially nice for portraiture & here is one of joel taken with it:

the lens is a manual focus & you can see the one eye is a little blurry, so i definitely have some practicing to do.. here a few other shots from around the neighbourhood:
