spring
We are loving springtime out here in our little town!
I'm told this is an early spring, or rather a dryer one than usual. I'll take it!
Our rubber boots were a worthwhile investment, but I'm glad we can put them away already.
Asher, Edie & I are all loving being outside more. The other day was warm enough to bust out the sunscreen & by the end of the day I was Done. In bed at 8:30 done! The fresh air got the best of me. We wander from the sandbox in our yard to the communal swings & slide, round for a walk or over to the neighbours, bumping into the other kids/moms here. I'm feeling very blessed to live on campus & be a part of this neighbourhood...
Our family hike a little while ago... Asher "hiding" & finding Mr Kitty.
We are stoked about these swings! Last summer there was just one big swing, but a neighbour recently put up the second swing & the baby swing, which Asher prefers of course!
Playing in the sand box & at "Unky Phil's" house.
Some of the neighbours joining Asher...
This was Edie's first time on the swing / & my first time with two kids on the swing!
The other morning I felt like a True Mom... We walked over to the park after breakfast & I was pushing Asher on the swing with one hand, joggling Edie in the carrier for her nap & taking sips of coffee with my other hand... & it struck me that I was a total Mom. & I was doing it pretty good :)
I remember last summer when I was visiting with Des at her house & we walked with the kids to the park, & it seemed like every kid on the block was there & all the moms were chatting... & I noticed that those with coffee didn't have a to-go mug, they had just brought their mug from home. I thought that was so awesome that going to the park was such a casual affair that they would just bring their mug from home & walk over. Anyways, that was me the other day & I was feeling pretty good about it! (It's the little things)...
This weekend ends Joel's first year of teaching at NBC & it's graduation for the students here on campus. It'll be nice to have the summer break & slow things down a bit.
Almost time to start counting days til our big trips come June!
True Mom indeed. Love the little things you notice. I'm counting days!
ReplyDeleteI love your 'true mom experience' and the coffee cup observation and the fact that it made you so happy. It's hard to believe I didn't know a good cup of coffee back in the day when I was pushing the swings.
ReplyDeleteAgree with Destiny and your Mom! Love the 'true mom experience'....you are a fantastic mom :) Hope you're enjoying a cup of coffee on this beautiful day!
